''A Night At The Winery''': A Night of Notes, at Jermann's

''A Night At The Winery''': A Night of Notes, at Jermann's

One evening of June 2017, a multifaceted pianist and a wandering saxophone player meet. They meet in one of the most welcoming wineries in Italy, and perhaps even in the international scene: the Jermann Winery in Ruttars. So here, the multifaceted pianist and the wandering saxophone player feel at home, and it is magic.

The concert they played in the winery “Vers La Grande Porte De Kiev”, is now available as a CD. A must-have CD as it is a homage to the Russian composer Modest Musorgskij and his “Pictures at an Exhibition” suite. It is also “divine” because it was recorded live in the Jermann winery, during a magical summer evening.

This music goes straight to the heart. Expertly mixed on the spot by Stefano Amerio, the concert represents an important stage in a project that is unique in its genre:

A Night At The Winery”, 6 concerts in 6 wineries, where wine and music go together so well they become one in 6 passages.

Michele Campanella is one of the world’s finest interpreters of Franz Liszt. Multifaceted artist, for over twenty years he has been professor of piano at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Siena. He has a restless inventiveness and is always open to new sounds and influences. His discography and bibliography are so extensive it is difficult to decide where to begin: he transitions with ease and confidence from a repertoire of classical music to the many styles of contemporary jazz. He himself candidly confesses his restlessness with the class and self-irony that only great people can afford: “For fifty years I have looked for the perfect sound and I am still seeking”.

Javier Girotto, saxophone player and multi-instrumentalist, was born in Cordoba in 1965. He has been involved in music since he was a child following in his Apulian grandfather’s footsteps. At the age of 19 he manages to gain a place at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he earns a degree awarded “magna cum laude”. Time goes by and he goes on playing. In just a few years, his many collaborations, concerts and albums place his name among the leading figures of jazz music, next to names like Paolo Fresu, Danilo Rea, Enrico Rava, and Gary Burton, to name a few.
